8th Annual Christmas Under The Clock in the works

christmas

All the things that make Plain City our hometown are the things that make Christmas Under the Clock the best Christmas celebration around. The 8th annual celebration on Saturday, December 5, will again have that blast-from-the-past, small town, homey atmosphere where you can enjoy music, a tree lighting celebration, wagon rides, hot food and drink, and an auction for holiday decorations.

It all starts at 5:00 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony at Bicentennial Part (the Flatiron) and ends with the drawing for the $500 VISA gift card at 9:00 p.m. at the Plain City Historical Society. In between, revel in holiday cheer with all the bells and whistles that Plain City businesses and organizations like to display on that special night.

The auction is back and has expanded to include other decorations besides wreaths. Also available for decorating are garlands, centerpieces and table-top trees. Wagon rides will go back and forth on Main Street from Lovejoy Plaza to Yoder’s True Value Hardware where you can visit with Santa and get your photo snapped with him. On the way, check out the live nativity scene at the library. Hot drinks and snacks will be all over town at the businesses and organizations and at the Lovejoy Plaza where you can be entertained while waiting your turn on the wagon. Song and strumming will pop up all over the area.

All proceeds from the Wreaths & More auction go to the Plain City Food Pantry and Uptown Plain City Organization (UPCO). Area businesses and organizations that have not received a letter about participation are encouraged to contact UPCO via Julie Weaver or Chris Long (see below). We try our best but sometimes we miss someone. The deadline to request bare greenery has been extended. We know it’s hard to get in the holiday spirit when it’s 60 degrees outside!

If you have a suggestion, would like to get involved, or just have a question, please contact UPCO Promotion Committee members Chris Long or Julie Weaver at, respectively, clong@plaincitylib.org/873-4912x23 or julie.weaver@hotmail.com. 614-561-3322. Or attend the next quarterly meeting on Thursday, August 20 at 7 p.m. at the Plain City Public Library.
