Get Ready for the Third Annual Plain City Four Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, September 26!


The Third Annual “Darby Dash,” the Plain City Four Mile Run/Walk is Saturday, September 26, 2009. Co-sponsored by the Masonic Lodge of Plain City and the Uptown Plain City Organization, facilitated by the Columbus Running Company, this flat, four mile course will take runners and walkers through the historic Uptown business district, Pastime Park, and the surrounding neighborhoods of the Village of Plain City. The celebrity starter for this year is a native of Columbus, and one of Ohio State University’s graduates, Blaine Wilson. This five time national gymnastic champion and Olympian silver medalist is the owner of Integrity Gymnastics and Cheerleading, located on Business Way in Plain City. The main race begins at 8:00 AM, while the newly added Kid Fun Runs begin at 9:00 AM. The Fun Runs are geared for those 14 years of age and under, with both a 440 yard and 1 mile race. Registration is $2 and $5, respectively. These races stay within the boundaries of beautiful Pastime Park, and all of the participants will receive a Fun Run Award.

Early bird registration for the four mile race is $20, and must be postmarked by September 16, 2009. Race day registration is $25.00. On line registration and the course map are available at www.columbusrunning.com/plaincity.htm. Registrations may also be mailed to UPCO, P.O.Box 297, Plain City, Ohio, 43064. The first 100 registrants will receive a race T-shirt and goodie bag. Awards for top finishers and age categories will be handed out in an immediate post-race ceremony.

All proceeds from the Plain City Four Mile Run/Walk will contribute to the charitable efforts of the Plain City Masonic Lodge and the Uptown Plain City Organization. The Urania Lodge #311 of Plain City has been supporting charitable efforts in Plain City since 1859 as part of the greater Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio. The Uptown Plain City Organization (UPCO) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of the historic uptown Plain City business district.
